Rescue Diver Certification Program

The PADI Rescue Diver course equips divers with the skills and knowledge needed to handle diving emergencies, both in and out of the water. This essential course for advanced divers, or those looking to enter the world of diving professionals, focuses on safety, prevention, and managing stress in emergency situations. It teaches divers how to recognize and respond to a variety of emergency scenarios, from rescuing an unresponsive diver to handling underwater distress.

The course consists of knowledge development, confined water exercises, and open water scenarios. Key skills include self-rescue techniques, managing panic, assisting distressed divers, performing in-water rescues, and providing first aid for diving-related injuries. You’ll also learn how to assess the scene for safety, prevent accidents, and work with a team to provide effective rescue assistance.

Upon completion, new Resue certified divers will have the ability to respond to a wide range of emergencies, making them more skilled, prepared, and confident in their diving abilities.

The PADI Rescue Diver course focuses on preventing and managing potential diving problems, enhancing diver skills and confidence, and improving the ability to assist others in emergencies.  It’s a challenging but rewarding course designed to make divers more aware and capable in handling various rescue situations.  The course covers a variety of topics, including:

  • Self-Rescue Skills: Improving a diver’s ability to handle emergencies independently.
  • Emergency Assistance: Learning to assist divers who are tired, panicked, or out of air.
  • Dive Accident Management: Gaining knowledge and skills to manage various dive-related emergencies.
  • First Aid and Injury Treatment: Providing basic first aid and injury treatment both in and out of the water.
  • Missing Diver Procedures: Understanding how to handle situations where a diver is missing.
  • Common Equipment Problems: Identifying and addressing common equipment issues.
 

 Prerequisites Include:

Adventure Diver/Junior Adventure Diver (or qualifying certification) with completed Underwater Navigation Dive; EFR Primary and Secondary Care training (or qualifying training) within 24 months
